Want to help but don't know how? You may have items sitting in your closet which could be put to good use here at The Halfway House. Items such as toys and blankets can make a dogs stay more comfortable while things such as food, collars, leashes and crates help provide for a dog's basic needs while in foster care. Make a dog's stay a little brighter and contact us for information regarding shipping or pick up of your donated items. You can also visit our Sponsorship page for information on sponsoring a foster dog in your name.

Toys: A busy Pit Bull is a happy Pit Bull! Chew toys keep a dog entertained and content while crated or kenneled. These dogs can be hard on chew toys so items such as any of the Kong Products (medium or large size), Dinosaur Bones (from Rhino), the heavier and larger versions of Nyla Bones, rope toys or any sturdy toy designed for dogs with a lot chewing power would be greatly appreciated. All the dogs seem to LOVE old game balls - basketballs, soccer balls and volley balls! We hit all the garage sales we can find but we just can't seem to keep enough on hand.

Blankets: Some of our dogs in foster care spend part of their days crated while others are in a kennel environment. New or gently used blankets help make that time more comfortable for them. It’s a constant struggle to keep enough on hand to meet the dogs’ needs.

Dog Food: As you might imagine we go through a great deal of dog food here at HHPBR. Donations of dry dog food or extra yummy dog treats for training sessions can always be put to excellent use.

Crates: New and gently used crates are always a welcome item. Not only is a properly used crate a wonderful tool for house breaking but most dogs come to think of their crate as their own personal space. We would like someday to have enough to be able to send one home with each of our adopted dogs but right now it’s a struggle just to have enough to house the dogs in our care.

Veterinary Care: Most of our dogs come into rescue having never had any basic medical care in their entire lives. Each dog needs spayed or neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and checked for internal parasites. Necessary items such as heartworm preventive and flea control also add to the vet bill. Please contact us at info@hhpbr.com for information on how to make payments directly to our veterinarian.

Other Items: Strong Nylon collars that close with a buckle rather than a snap and leashes are always needed (new or used). Cleaning supplies for crates or kennels, paper towels, laundry soap for the dog's bedding, flea control products - these are just of few of the other items that can always be put to good use.

Gift Cards: Want to help but just can't quite get motivated for that trip to the store? Would you rather skip the crowds, the hassle of packing items for shipping and waiting in line at the post office? Does it all sounds like a lot more work than you had in mind? Then consider sending a gift card to any major pet supply store or one of the super store chains. Almost any of the things mentioned above with exception of veterinary care can be purchased with a gift card. Gift cards can normally be purchased on line and shipped direct so you can have the joy of helping dogs in need without having to face the crowds at the store or the post office.
