Below
are just a few of the Happy Tails which HHPBR has had the pleasure to
be a part of. Of course a happy tail for us is a fresh start for a deserving dog who has
finally found a home of his or her own. When we can't face
one more dog we don't have room for, when we cry for those
we had to leave behind or those with mental scars that could
not be healed, when we think we don't have the energy to
clean one more kennel or exercise one more dog - these are
the faces we look at and remember..... this is what we work
for. HHPBR would like to
thank everyone who has made the choice to
welcome a needy dog into their home and hearts - without you
there would be no hope.

At well over 90 lbs Chopper is truly a gentle giant. He came to us from the local kill shelter and went on to find true love and a very special home of his own. Many thanks to Dave & Jen for giving the big lug such wonderful care! |
Wyatt went from a throw away dog to a lucky dog. He now resides with Jeremy and is delighted to be part of a family again. Thanks Jeremy! We know that Wyatt will bring you joy for many years to come. |
Sammie was surrendered to the shelter because her owner was moving. It seems she was not a part of that plan. But Sammie got lucky - she now lives with Carmen, Joe and her new big brother Choco. Thank you all for your kindness in welcoming her into your family! |
Jewel's first owner left her behind in the yard when he moved. At 5 years of age her adoption prospects were slim. But now she's found her forever buddy in Michael. Thanks so much Michael for giving this mature beauty a second chance! |

Dasia was confiscated by local animal control as part of a neglect case. Scott and Heather took her in and helped her learn to live life as part of a family. Quite a big step for a pup who had never known kindness. Thank you both for working so hard and for making her a member of your family! |
Wow - Morgan sure has come a long way. Once dumped by the side of the road she's now living in the lap of luxury with the Parrish family. Clearly she knows how to best take advantage of this! Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Parish for giving this little sweetie a home! |
Dumped outside the shelter doors after hours this little beauty is now a member of Christine's family.
Thank you for taking this little red brindle ball of energy into your home! |
Sugar went from a little homeless pup to a lucky pup. After a short stay with HHPBR she found her forever home through the great folks at Mutts-N-Stuff. |

Emmy Before.
Emmy Now!
|
Emmy's owners called animal control to come pick her up when she became to old to produce any more puppies. She came to HHPBR covered in mange and with nails that curled under to touch her paw pads. She also had only a few stumps of teeth left due to poor nutrition on top of years of producing litter after litter of pups. Being heartworm positive only added to her long list of health concerns. Although her true age remains a mystery the vet estimated her at 14 years old or more. Unable to offer her even the slimmest of chances at adoption due to her age and advance health problems HHPBR was at a loss as to how to help this grand old gal until Turtle Moon Rescue stepped in to offer her sanctuary status with their organization. Emmy now has re-grown most of her hair although her heartworm remains untreated as at her advanced age the vet considered it more dangerous to treat the problem that to just let it be. Many thanks to Penny and the rest of the Turtle Moon gang for giving this girl care, comfort and love in what time she may have left! | ||

Ruby was found wandering the streets of a major Midwest city as an emaciated stray. No one ever showed up to claim her. As in most city animal control facilities Ruby's time ran out far to quickly. Unable to resist that goofy smile we just had to find room for just one more. This pint sized pit spent a year looking for her forever home but it was well worth the wait. A big thank you to Dave and Sheila for making Ruby a member of your family and thanks to big brother Tux for putting up with such a pesky little sister! |

It is our fondest wish that this page grows and grows. We're willing to do our part if you will do yours. Before you purchase a dog from a breeder please consider opening your home and heart to a dog in need. There are great dogs of all ages, sizes, color and personality types waiting for a home right now - many may not have much time left. Please visit your local shelter or check out our Orphans page for a listing of great dogs available throughout the Midwest.
Even if you are not able to welcome a dog into your home you can still help. Encourage your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to bypass the breeder and adopt a homeless dog. The internet is full of rescues no matter what your breed of choice. Or visit our Wish List or Sponsor-A-Pit pages and you can help us help them! |
